ABOUT ME

MEET MARIA ISABEL NIEVES BOSCH

Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico and currently based in Los Angeles, California.

I've always had many interests, which led me to double major in International Affairs and Religious Studies and minor in Film and Media Studies at Skidmore College for my bachelor's degree.

Upon graduating in 2019, I became a recipient of a Fulbright Award to be an ETA in Surakarta, Indonesia where I taught English and used films and songs to engage students in interactive learning.  I traveled back home to Puerto Rico and taught advanced English (literature and academic writing) at a twelve-grade level during the COVID pandemic. Then, I applied to the Cinema and Media Studies masters program at the University of Southern California.

In 2021, I moved to Los Angeles to begin the MA program at USC's School of Cinematic Arts, where I studied film and television history, global media, interactive media, and theory.  I had internships in Mark Victor Productions, the LA Times Studios, and NBCUniversal while also working as a TA and a writing consultant for USC's Writing Center.

Discussions and interactions serve as my main tools to learn and grow, especially when it comes to understanding different forms of storytelling. I created this blog to continue my journey reflecting on the media and stories we consume, why we like or dislike it, how to approach it through different lenses, and what it reflects about us or society.
